Description

For decades, Harry Houdini's copy of THE DISCOVERIE OF WITCHCRAFT, a 1584 book by Reginald Scot, sat in a dark drawer untouched.

It is the first book in English to detail sleight of hand, and Houdini's copy was very special because it held the key to a mystery that had fascinated magicians for centuries.

Who had Reginald Scot gotten all his information from - who was the magician who revealed some of Charms greatest and most closely guarded secrets?

The answer lay in the barely legible notes Houdini had scribbled in the margins. Shakespeare's copy, see back cover," was Houdini's not-so-cryptic message.

At the back of the book were William Shakespeare's handwritten notes on some fifty tricks and feats, some of which appeared in THE DISCOVERIE OF WITCHCRAFT.

The mystery is now being fully revealed for the first time: young Will Shakespeare, who had just fathered a child, needed money and took the job.

In a tale as thrilling as any detective fiction, author Richard Kaufman has deciphered Shakespeare's ridiculous doodles... and written this book, containing forty-five Shakespearean effects (some lousy ones too - he wasn't always clever) and another twenty contributions from some of the greatest card wizards in the world, including:

  • Derek Dingle
  • Edward Marlo
  • Jon Racherbaumer
  • Harry Lorayne
  • gene maze
  • Darwin Ortiz
  • Ken Krenzel
  • Bill Simon
  • Philip Goldstein
  • Russell Barnhart...

Even as Shakespeare turns in his grave, over seven hundred animated illustrations that seem to move, combined with Richard Kaufman's superb text, will teach you many beautiful card routines that you'll be proud to add to your repertoire.

Approximately: 184 pages with 727 black and white illustrations. In English
