The coin tube is a classic prop in coin magic. It consists of two metal or wooden cylinders that can be snapped together and pulled apart, with a playing card or metal plate between them. The magic happens when a coin is inserted into one end of the tube and runs through to the other end. The beauty of this prop is that it doesn't require any complicated tricks or techniques.

Over time, the availability of high-quality versions has become rare. Many plastic versions with poor design have caused magicians to lose interest in this prop. To recapture the charm and magic of traditional coin insertion, Jay Wang and Jimmy Fan have teamed up to bring you The Tunnel by Artisan Coin.

Lenz's Law Routine

You get out two brass tubes with a wooden exterior and a magnet and ask your audience if they are familiar with Lenz's rule. Then you demonstrate this fascinating physical phenomenon by dropping the magnet through the brass tubes. As he falls, the speed of the magnet slows, creating an almost slow motion effect. You explain that this is a result of electromagnetic induction, but what makes this demonstration truly magical is the fact that the space within the brass tube is distorted.

The tunnel is a routine that combines the classic coin penetration effect with the physical phenomenon of Lenz's rule. This not only provides a logical justification for the magical effect, but also enhances the entire magical experience and makes it even more captivating. Our goal was to create a routine that was not just a magic trick, but also a memorable and complete performance.

We put a lot of thought into the design of the tunnel, from the impressive wooden cladding to the combination of brass and wood. After several iterations and revisions, the current version of The Tunnel is a high-quality collectible that is both elegant and functional.

The inner tube is made of 3mm thick brass, which maximizes the braking effect of Lenz's rule without compromising the aesthetics or stability of the brass-wood combination. The exterior is fully encased in high quality rosewood, and each set has its own unique wood grain and Farbe, which further enhances its high-quality appeal.

  • A classic effect with a fresh presentation
  • The 3mm thick brass tube is fully encased in high quality red rosewood, making it a beautiful collector's quality prop.
  • The magnetic clasp ensures your coins stay securely in place and it can also hold playing or plastic cards (bank/credit cards with magnetic stripes are not recommended as they could be damaged)
  • Can be handed out for examination
  • There are almost no difficult holds required as the support does 99% of the work for you.
  • Uses four regular half dollars approximately 29mm to 30mm in diameter (coins are not included)
Includes detailed online English instructions covering both the coin penetration routine and the full Lenz's rule.
Please note that due to shipping restrictions, the tunnel set does not include the neodymium magnet used in the Lenz's Law routine. However, this does not affect the performance of the basic coin penetration routine.

If you want to purchase the neodymium magnet separately, you will need a cylinder magnet with the following dimensions:
Height: 20 mm
Diameter: 30mm
With a quick online search you can easily find a variety of cylinder magnets.
